edie lune: issue 3 / autumn (where the sun meets the moon)
Edie Lune is a collaboration between friends, a collection of seasonally inspired, handmade books filled with original stories, recipes, and crafts created over the course of a year by Jessica Lewis Stevens and Michelle MacKay. Edie Lune celebrates the wheel of the year with fully illustrated stories, thoughtful projects, and delicious drinks and bakes woven into the stories we tell. We are inspired by the work of the seasons, families at home, children’s play, place and memory, medicinal herbs, and the comforts of a life lived with heart.
Our autumn story Where the Sun meets the Moon follows a troupe of wholesome mischief makers collecting friends (and stolen supplies) as they traipse through their neighborhood. Parents usher their children out the door to join the band of kids so they can prepare for the autumn harvest block party that evening. The children have a plan, and we get to watch it unfold. Our story is woven with threads of community, harvest time meals, mischief, friendship, and a little bit of mystery.
Included in this issue: an illustrated original story, recipes for sweet spiced chai and apple sharing cake, and instructions for crafting a house-shaped needlebook for storing your sewing needles and pins.
The zine’s cover is printed on an antique letterpress with tulsi-flower purple ink on a thick golden cover stock. Each 28-page zine is hand-bound with deep gold cotton thread dyed with onion skins.
